Sant Pol de Mar

Sant Pol de Mar is an example of a Mediterranean town, with its narrow streets and its white, terraced houses and with the coast cut by the beaches of clean and granular sand that recall its origins, and with a marked maritime character which is reflected in the architecture of the buildings, the small beaches, the gastronomy with traditional dishes cooked with products from the sea and also from the land, and in its traditions, fairs and popular festivals, because it is a sailor town.

During the months of July, August and September the guided tour 'El Sant Pol dels Pescadors' is offered, covering different spaces related to the maritime activity and the old fishermen, such as the Fishermen's House or the Salí de Can Serra. And at the end of August with the Firamar, you will be able to learn more about the world of fishermen while enjoying the program of the fair, which includes demonstrations of sea trades, stalls of handicraft products related to the sea, talks and conferences, with a guided route and the Sant Pol Havana Festival, where you can enjoy havaneras music in front of the sea matched with rum.

It also adds an interesting architectural variety with the facades that can be observed while walking through its charming streets, squares and corners, where we find buildings with marine-type architecture, Romanesque, Neoclassical, Modernist, Noucentist and current buildings, buildings financed by Indians of the time who when returning from 'the Americas' had their houses built as a symbol of the bonanza obtained from their travels and, even on the coast line, different forts of the period of the civil war, one of which can be visited on the first Saturday of each month, from March to December, ( prior reservation is required by email: ofturisme@santpol.cat)
