Four destinations in the Maresme are accredited with the "Family Beach" seal

Did you know that four towns in the Maresme are certified by the Catalan Tourism Agency for Family Tourism? They have been awarded the Family Beach seal, which accredits them as coastal destinations that are specialsed in family tourism, so they have all the services and activities needed to spend an unforgettable family holiday. These destinations are Calella, Malgrat de Mar, Pineda de Mar and Santa Susanna. All four have golden sandy beaches and blue sea ideal for spending long summer days. Now I'll tell you why they are so special!

Santa Susanna was the first town to be accredited in 2003. It has a wide range of accommodation and catering for families, with a wide range of leisure and entertainment proposals, among which the Montnegre MB centre, the Activ Natura park, the watersports centre and what the local people call "el cuc" known as "the worm".   Do you know what it is? No, it is not a place to see these long creatures! It's a little train that goes around so that you can get to know the town. It-s a really fun way to tour Santa Susanna in the summer.
Calella also has this kind of small train, aimed at families, but the

Calella also has this kind of small train, aimed at families, but the locals call it the "carrilet". You can see how much variety there is in the Maresme! Calella received certification as a Family Tourism destination in 2004. Visitors can enjoy the charm of its old town, the spectacle of the lighthouse, the tranquility of a stroll through Dalmau Park with a go on the swings and any of the other parks in the town.

In the heat of summer it's also great fun to get on the "banana bus", a giant banana that takes us at high speed on the sea and it is a real challenge not to fall into the water. There is also an inflatable floating water park. You can also spend some time discovering the exhibitions in the Tourism Museum and the Archive Museum. The anti aircraft shelter is an insight into the history of the town and has been converted into a museum space.

In 2005 Pineda de Mar was also certified by the Catalan Tourism Agency. This town offers blue flag beaches, sightseeing and cultural, sports and leisure activities. The proximity to the natural park of Montnegre and the Corredor makes it easy to go on walking and biking routes. The fundacio Tharrats offers the little ones an opportunity to delve into the world of drawing and graphic arts. Pineda also has a watersports centre where you can do lots of activities, a mini beach club and a floating water park. When the children are out of the water, there is an adapted playground with all kinds of features and every week it offers a full schedule of family events.

Malgrat de Mar was awarded the Family Tourism Destination seal in 2007. The town has more than 5 kms of beach and the largest, Astillero beach, has a beach library and a children's club. My favourite space in Malgrat is the Francesc Macià park: It has a giant children's play area of 40,000m², with different spaces for different age groups. It has huge figures like pencils and shoes. There is also a skate park and sensory games. Schools and summer camps also choose this park for their excursions! On the beach there is also a mini club that is set up during the summer months. And on Friday mornings they have a foam party!
