Centre d'Interpretació del Far de Calella

Construction of the lighthouse began on the 9th of October 1856 and the engineer responsible for the Project was Marià Parellada. The lighthouse was inaugurated on the 15th of December 1859. In the beginning the lamp was lit by oil which was then substituted for paraffin and petrol and substituted for electricity in 1927, when the optical apparatus was improved and substituted by another which came from the Medes Islands, which still Works today, although it has had small modifications. The light reaches a distance of 35 miles and its navigation pattern is 3 short beams and 2 large beams every 30 seconds.

From the lighthouse, the view over the beach of Calella not leave indifferent. Green and blue tones are combined perfectly to put the backdrop to snapshots immortalized undoubtedly the best sunsets in the summer. And, indeed, during the months of July, August and September is when activity intensifies. The magic of Calella summer nights complement each other perfectly under a starry sky with the soul of voices and guitars which are responsible for putting the best soundtrack to one of the special moments of the summer sky.

From 2 January to 30 June: Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m
From 1 July to 30 September: Tuesday to Sunday and bank holidays from 5 to 9 p.m
From 1 October to 31 December: Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Closed on 25 and 26 December and 1 January
