Alta Alella is a family project that was born in the early 1990s. Josep Maria Pujol-Busquets, accompanied by his wife Cristina Guillén, began this ecological adventure by acquiring the Can Genís farm, with noucentista reminiscences, located in the agricultural area of the Park Natural of the Serralada de Marina, between the municipalities of Alella and Tiana.

In 1991, Alta Alella began to plant its first vineyards, next to the white raisin wine (Xarel lo), the traditional variety of Alella, they planted a great diversity of varieties, among others, the forgotten Mataró, which had not been cultivated in Alella since the times of phylloxera. A winery was built, the farmhouse was reformed and the vineyards over 50 years old that were already in production were incorporated.

In 2001 they were ready to make the first wines, the fruit of the 6 hectares arranged on terraces and slopes. Since then, a total of 17 hectares have been acquired and conditioned, located at an altitude of between 150 and 250 meters above sea level. Since its inception, all production has been certified organic, without the use of herbicides or pesticides, and maintaining a balanced biodiversity and ecosystem. Ancient techniques are used, such as green manure and organic composting. The harvest is manual, and lasts approximately two months, seeking the optimum moment for each variety through a rigorous control of maturation.

Alta Alella has currently reached its peak of maturity at the farm level, betting on wine tourism with the construction of a visitor reception center so that wine and cava lovers can taste all the products while enjoying views of the Mediterranean Sea in a unique viticultural environment.

CELLER DE LES AUS (BIRDS WAREHOUSE), the radical wine cellar of Alta Alella • Cava Privat.

The Pujol-Busquets Guillén family rein forces its commitment to ecology with the aim of obtaining quality natural wines without using sulfur and inaugurates a winery in 2015 based on the knowledge and experience accumulated over four decades dedicated to wine.

The architect Alfons Soldevila, in charge of the project, highlights shade and silence as the main factors of this new winery, built from recycled material and integrated into its surroundings, the Serralada de Marina Park and the Mediterranean.

From that vintage, wines would be made that are named after the birds that inhabit the park: Bruant, Capsigrany, Merla, Tallarol and Puput.
