Description

Palafolls is located at the north-eastern limit of the Maresme region (Barcelona), being the Tordera river the border with the Selva region and at the same time with the province of Girona.

its main occupation is industry, agriculture and the service sector. It has the main population center historically called Les Ferreries and the population centers known as the neighborhoods of Saint Mary and Saint Louis. The municipality also consists of Sant Genís de Palafolls and the housing estates of Mas Reixach, Mas Carbó and Ciutat Jardí.

The main attractions of Palafolls are: Palafolls Castle; the Enric Miralles Library, the architect's posthumous work; the Palauet sports complex, designed by the architect Arata Isozaki; the churches of Santa Maria and Sant Genís; the Music and Dance center, MiD, which includes the municipality's exhibition hall and the Foroll factory, among others. Palafolls also stands out for having an important legacy of farmhouses from various eras and a natural environment of significant environmental wealth.
